On November 17, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and enlargement negotiations Johannes Hahn.
The parties discussed the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine with regard to Russia’s moving the significant armed forces to the territory of Ukraine, the concentration of RF troops on the border, the continuation of shelling the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces. They emphasized that these facts together with the holding so-called "elections on November 2 " are the gross violations of Minsk agreements.
P.Klimkin stressed that such actions require decisive and proactive steps from the EU aimed at supporting the peace process in Ukraine.
The commissioner stressed that Ukrainian issue is among the priorities of the European Union, which will continue to fully support Ukraine, particularly in the context of the implementation of the Association Agreement, resistance to the Russian aggression, restoring the territorial integrity of the country.
Foreign Minister also stressed the strong determination of the Ukrainian side to complete the formation of the new government and to continue the ambitious program of systematic reforms. In this context, the parties discussed the preparation of an international donors' conference for Ukraine.
Pavlo Klimkin invited Johannes Hahn to visit Ukraine in the nearest future.
